  The
coastal road from Sami to Agia Efimia, on the east coast, passes through the
seaside village of Karavomilos. Bordered on each side by attractive beaches,
Karavomilos has a seaside reed-fringed pool whose waters originate at the Sea
Mill near Argostoli, flowing underground by way of the submerged Lake of
Melissani.
A track leads from the village inland to terraces of olive groves
and further to a few farms. Villa Marina and Villa Poseidon are situated
amongst these olive groves, five hundred metres from the village and the sea.
Surrounded by silver olives and dark green pines, the villas enjoy a
peaceful, rural setting and privacy. Views from the bedroom balconies are
over the tops of olive trees and across the sea to Ithaca. Views of Sami’s
distant twinkling lights at night and a moonlit sea are beautiful.
Stone
walls and trees enclose the private grounds and divide the two villas and
their gardens, which are a distance of thirty metres apart. Each villa enjoys
total privacy.
Built on two floors, Villa Marina and Villa Poseidon have spacious interiors
opening on to sea-facing terraces and are furnished and fitted to meet
expectations of a high, modern standard of comfort. The private gardens
of each villa have a swimming pool and terraces bordered by fruit trees and
colourful plants.
Car rental is suggested: Sami (the main set for the film
"Captain Corelli’s Mandolin") is a drive of five minutes and Agia Efimia is a
ten minute drive. Both villages have a good selection of tavernas, bars and
shops. Agia Efimia has a dive centre and boat hire. The coastline in between
offers many beaches and coves.
 The
village of Karavomilos, and its nearby beaches, is a ten minute walk from the
villas and has three tavernas, two cafénions, two minimarkets and a bakery.

Ground floor of an open-plan
sitting room with two sofa beds, dining area and kitchen, leading to sea-facing
terrace; cloakroom.
Stairs to first floor of one double bedroom (twin-bedded
in Villa Poseidon) leading to terrace with sea views; bathroom with
hydromassage bath and shower.
Air-conditioning in all bedrooms, satellite
TV/DVD & CD player, dishwasher & washing machine, gas barbecue.
Each villa's
private swimming pool is 6,5 x 3,5 metres wide and has a depth of 0,8-1,7 metres. |
Vassilikades
is a village fifteen kilometres inland from Fiscardo and just eight kilometres
from Myrtos Beach.
The village has a taverna, pizzeria, supermarket and a pharmacy. A narrow lane
leads to Villa Fantasia’s elevated position on the edge of the village with
stunning and uninterrupted views over the island’s forested west coast and
across the sea to the island of Lefkas. The villa enjoys a special vantage
point for sunsets.

Evreti
is a small, hillside hamlet of traditional island houses, set in an unspoilt and
natural landscape of olive and cypress trees,
a ten minute drive south along the coastal road from Fiscardo.
Landscaped
grounds surround a swimming pool with sun terraces and natural arbours for
shaded dining areas. Olive Grove enjoys a private and secluded location and
therefore car rental is suggested for ease of access to Fiscardo and nearby
villages.
Captain’s
Villas is a complex of four free standing neighbouring villas built in 2004,
each one with its own swimming pool.
The
units are built over the bay of Argostoli on a hillside with views across
the surrounding hills; the two front buildings also have distant view to
Argostoli Bay.

A
favourite for those wanting to stay just above a beach, Villa Ireni is a five
minute walk along the small coastal road from Fiscardo. Views from the front
balcony and roof patio are across the sea to the mountains of Ithaca, which turn
pink as the sun sets.
Accommodation/Facilities
of the villa:
Evreti
is a small, hillside hamlet of traditional island houses, set in an unspoilt and
natural landscape of olive and cypress trees, a ten minute drive south along the
coastal road from Fiscardo.
In
the early 19th Century a few small stone houses were built in the olive groves
surrounding Evreti to accommodate growing families. Depopulation of the islands
after the Civil War left these houses empty for succeeding years.
The
views from the main verandah and pool terrace are of the bay below and across
the sea towards Ithaca.
Stafilia
House enjoys the same hillside location, on the north-west coast, as Sunset
House, which lies 100 metres away. Olive trees ensure privacy but do not
obscure the dramatic views
down the west coast and across the sea to the cliffs of the Lixouri peninsula.

the small village of Manganos, with a supermarket and taverna, is a drive of
five minutes.
The
small, sleepy hamlet of Haliotata sits on a hillside four kilometres away from
the port of Sami, half way up Cephalonia’s east coast.
Villa Olivia is at the highest point of the hamlet and has total privacy and
magnificent views down the valley of olive groves and pine trees to the
houses of Sami and across the sea to the island of Ithaca.
the submerged lake of Melissani at Karovomilos village is a further five minutes
drive. Regular ferries from Sami to Ithaca allow for convenient day trips.
A
twenty minute drive south of Argostoli leads to a dramatic stretch of southern
coastline. The slopes of Mount Aenos descend to the Robola vineyards, olive
groves and tall cypress trees, and the beautiful beaches of Lourdas, Lithero,
Agios Thomas and Trapezaki. The hillsides above each beach contain small
hamlets: clusters of houses with a minimarket and bakery. Small, waterside
tavernas can be found close to each beach.

carefully planted with colourful shrubs and trees and each pool terrace is
bordered by rose bushes, bougainvillaea, hibiscus and gardenia.
The sandy beach of Trapezaki and a family-run taverna are a fifteen minute walk
away. A minimarket and taverna are just a two minute walk away. Lourdas, with
its sandy beach and six tavernas, is a drive of ten minutes.
Eleni’s
Cottage is set back from the small coastal road and 50 metres from a small
beach.
The shops and tavernas of Fiscardo are within a five minute walk.
