- Duration: Approx. 3hrs

This alternative excursion combines the wild, unspoiled beauty of the southwest of Santorini with the better-known destinations at the east of the island. You have your driver's license, you have the wheel in your hands, of course the camera in the glove-compartment and your tour guide, a useful and informative compass, as your co-driver and… off we go!
We start at Cape Akrotiri, at the extreme southwest of Santorini. Its lighthouse, built in 1892 high atop a rocky promontory, is one of the most beautiful in the Cyclades.
From here we drive in a convoy to Vlychada, where we'll visit its circular marina and the reddish sand and gravel of nearby Red Beach.
Our next stop is Perissa, a former fishing village that has become one of the most popular beaches in Santorini.
We leave Perissa for the beautiful Monastery of Profitis Ilias, at the highest point on Santorini, above the village of Pyrgos. The monastery is home to an important collection of rare ecclesiastical items, hand-written books and Byzantine icons.
Our next stop is at the little village of Exo Gonia, which is built amphitheatrically on a slope.
Our penultimate stop is peaceful Monolithos with its hidden beauties and its long beach.
We then drive to Fira, where the 4x4 portion of this intense excursion comes to an end and you will have free time to explore the capital of the island with its numerous art galleries, award-winning restaurants, chic cafés, cozy bars, museums, churches, nightclubs, traditional tavernas, unique shopping and, of course, an incredible view of the sunset from the centre of town's central square.
When you are ready to leave town, you can take the Santorini Cable Car to the port of Old Fira, a jaw-dropping descent of more than 200 meters toward the deep blue waters of the caldera. Alternatively, you can walk down all 588 steps to the Old Fira or hire a donkey to take you! Our tender boats will pick you up from here and take you to the ship for a fantastic meal with a singular view of nightfall on Santorini.
