the torch relay, which will start in spring and require over 10,000 torchbearers, will unite five continents, reaching South America and Africa for the first time in Olympic history. The torch is made of metal and wood and has the shape of an olive leaf

Moondy Bay Hotel - Cat. 3*- on the island of Aegina

The Moondy Bay Hotel is a relaxing retreat about 6km south of Aegina town (also written "Egina") and 2km from the traditional fishing village of Perdika (bus stop right in front of the hotel). Located at the water front, adjoining 2 beaches, it is a low rise complex with 90 rooms amidst a garden of 22.000sqm with over 200 kinds of trees, flowers, bushes, birds and poultry. In this green park there are 2-storey buildings (6 rooms on the ground floor and 6 rooms on the first floor) as well as one-floor buildings with 3-4 rooms each). All rooms have quite a large balcony facing the Saronic Gulf, individually controlled air conditioning, direct telephone, music, mini fridge, and private facilities. TV is on request, upon availability, and against charge. Most rooms have a walk-in closet. Tavernas and two small supermarkets are to be found at a distance of 1km.

The resort has its own energy generator for emergency cases and biological wastewater treatment. One can reach the hotel from Piraeus either by ferry (in about 1,5 hour) or by hydrofoil (in about 40 minutes). During the Olympic Games there will be hydrofoils from 07:00 until 24:00 (and possibly until 02:00) as well as bus service from the port of Aegina to the hotel. There is also daily connection from Aegina to the other Saronic Islands (Angistri, Poros, Hydra, Spetses).

"Tzireon 14" Apartment -private property- Makriyianni area, Athens

The apartment is located in the historic center of the city, a short walk to the Acropolis, the Plaka, the Temple of Zeus, Constitution sq. and the Olympic Stadium. It is also 20m from the metro station and the newly created tramline. The apartment is housed on the 1^st floor of an old building dating from the early 50s, a typical example of the post-war architecture. It has very large living areas with wooden floors, including 2 bedrooms with twin beds each, side tables with lamps, a chest of drawers and a large mirror. The one bedroom is facing the street (a quiet side street with little traffic) and the surrounding buildings and is separated by sliding doors from the living area. These two rooms open to a very small balcony (no sitting possibilities). The other bedroom is at the back and therefore is very quiet, and has only a window that is facing the surrounding buildings. There is also a small built-in closet. The living area has a dinning table, a chest of drawers and a sofa that is converted into two comfortable single beds. This room is connected with a small kitchen equipped with sufficient cupboards, refrigerator, cooker with 3 rings and an oven. There is one bathroom (bathtub with shower hose) and a W.C. There is one more small room that is used exclusively for storage purposes. The apartment has A/C, TV and a centrally regulated power switch for security reasons. Guests are provided with linen, all necessary cooking utensils for the preparations of meals, cutlery and crockery, iron and iron board. Cleaning service and change of linen is provided every 3 days.

Niki's House -private property- on the island of Hydra

Nicki's private house in Hydra; available for rental during the Athens Olympics Niki's is a private house in Hydra. Room view It is a 2-storey restored traditional stone house (built in the 19th century) within a 5-minute walk from the port, and can accommodate up to 6 persons. The property has a big yard which is full of trees and flowers, enclosed by a tall wall that offers seclusion from neighbouring houses; there are also two marble tables for dining and an open-air shower. Due to the limitations of traditional architecture, the only bathroom of the house (shower - WC) is detached from the main building and can be found at the right corner of the court yard. On the ground floor there is a single bedroom, the dining room and the kitchen. In the dining room there is a big table, the colour TV set and a sofa bed that sleeps one person. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and an electric stove. On the first floor there are two bedrooms with two single beds each, and one of them opens to a veranda with view to the sea.

Hydra belongs to the Saronic Islands and is about 1 hr 15' by hydrofoil from Piraeus port with plenty of departures daily. Hydra is considered to be a cosmopolitan island and offers very good night life. The port of the island has inspired many painters. Its beautiful mansions, often reminiscent of renaissance mansions in miniature, are perched on the sides of the rocky and barren slopes of Mt. Eros. The only island in Greece where cars are not allowed, Hydra offers and excellent base for day trips to other islands in the Saronic Gulf, as well as towns in the Peloponnese, like Nafplion, Tolon and Porto Heli.
